At the heart of this triangulation of the most remote corners of France, lies a small El Dorado. The Allier, one of the last great wild rivers in Europe, has its source on the Margeride high plateau. Its gorges offer deep mineral landscapes, which have remained wild and preserved, secretly hidden by the surrounding cow mountains. We follow the foothills of the river to discover its geological riches. At sunset, the lava ignites again and reflects ocher, red and saffron hues.
